How Paths Compare
Three Common Ways Into a Trade
Registered Apprenticeship
Get paid while you learn. Typically 3–5 years of on-the-job hours plus classroom instruction, ending in a journeyman credential.
Trade School / Community College
Focused training in months to two years. Strong for HVAC, welding, automotive, diesel, machining, and industrial maintenance.
Employer-Sponsored Training
Start as a helper or trainee and learn on the job, often with tuition help, manufacturer training, and certification support.
